Ethane, Propane, Butane
After having separated heavier liquefied natural gas from natural gas stream, LNG must be broken down into their components in order to accomplish the distillation process,that is fractionation. Using a cryogenic process involving a low temperature and a turbo-expander is possible to yield byproducts such as ethane, propane and butane. According to the different dew point of the specific elements, the lightest components will exit from the top of the distillation tower, whereas the heaviest will flow into a reboiler at the bottom. Every hydrocarbon is being brought to its boiling point into a distillation column: deethanizer, depropanizer and debutanizer.
DISTRIBUTION OF THE MATERIAL
The residual purified natural gas resulting after the liquefaction is suitable for storage and distribution to end-user market in case is required a liquid gas, for road or vehicles. On the contrary, NGL has to be steered toward a regasification process. Thanks to the conversion to a gaseous state, natural gas can be easily distributed and sold.
